TMS Health Solutions is Now Offering Psychiatry Options in Newport Beach

TMS Health Solutions announced on September 22, 2020 that it would be changing its name to Mindful Health Solutions. The company is a leader in evidence-based psychiatry, especially Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS). Dr. Richard Bermudes founded TMS Health Solutions in 2007 to provide innovative care that focuses on academic research. He continually incorporates new treatments while educating the community on them. Additional treatments that Mindful Health Solutions offers include esketamine nasal spray and electroconvulsive therapy.

Dr. Bermudes bases his selection of treatments on the idea that the integration of medication with non-medication treatments is the best approach to mental health. This philosophy results in a continually expanding line of services, which is why the word “mindful” has been added to the company’s name. This change emphasizes Dr. Bermudes’s focus on placing the patient first, although the practice has always been committed to maintaining this mindset. Mindful Health Solutions will continue to carry its patient-centric approach going forward.

Additional Changes

Additional changes accompanied the name change as part of Mindful Health Solutions’s rebranding strategy. For example, the tagline “Innovative Psychiatry Services” was introduced at the same time to reinforce the company’s continuing mission to provide its patients with the most advanced treatments available for a variety of mental health conditions. Mindful Health Solutions also has a new website and company logo to illustrate the company’s focus on providing accessible psychiatric treatment.

Dr. Bermudes elaborated on the reasons for the name change by explaining that it was the result of careful deliberation. He added that the practice has also been redefining its psychiatric outpatient care over the last few years. Rebranding the company was an important part of its growth, as the word “mindful” describes the practice’s overall approach to patient care. Brad Hummel, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for Mindful Health Solutions, stated, “We are very excited about the introduction of our new company name, Mindful Health Solutions, because it allows us to better represent our care and treatment philosophy.”

Mindful Health Solutions’s new headquarters is located at Union Square in San Francisco, and it currently has over 15 clinics In California. The newest of these is located at 4100 Newport Place Drive, Suite #730 in Newport Beach, which includes four psychiatrists and a nurse practitioner on its staff. Mindful Health Solutions recently acquired another practice in Roseville, and it will also be opening another clinic in Elk Grove. Both of these locations are in the Sacramento area, and Mindful Health Solutions will be opening additional locations during the next couple of years.

The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) reports that 14 to 17 percent of the adult population will experience Major Depressive Disorder (MDD), commonly known as clinical depression, at some point in their lifetime. MDD can usually be treated with a combination of medication or talk therapy, but 40 percent of these patients don’t respond to these traditional treatments. This condition is known as Treatment-Resistant Depression (TRD), which comprises a major part of Mindful Health Solutions’s practice.

Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) is an alternative treatment for MDD that’s safe and effective for those with TRD. Mindful Health Solutions is the largest provider of TMS for patients with TRD in California. TRD patients may benefit from a combination of TMS and medication, so our clinicians will need to work with these patients to find the right combination of therapies for their particular condition. Most types of insurance cover TMS.

TMS stimulates specific areas of the brain with an alternating electrical current through a scientific phenomenon known as electromagnetic induction. An electric pulse generator, also known as a stimulator, generates an alternating electric current that it passes to a magnetic coil connected to the patient’s scalp. The coil uses the electric current to induce a magnetic field, which in turn induces a second electric field within the brain itself. TMS provides both diagnostic and therapeutic potential for a large number of conditions in psychiatry and neurology.

Patients who don’t have a Mindful Health Solutions psychiatrist near me can also use telepsychiatry. This process allows patients to connect with clinicians and other staff members without physically travelling to a clinic. Telepsychiatry is a common solution for anyone who lives too far away from a clinic to make a face-to-face meeting practical. It may even be preferable for patients who live nearby due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The primary technical requirements for telepsychiatry are a device with internet connectivity, a camera and microphone. These devices include smartphones, desktops, laptops and tablets. You also need a private space free of interruptions, usually your home or office. Our psychiatrists can help you determine if video appointments are an appropriate option for you.
